Impact
From the very first Hoot & Holler Benefit Concert in 2015, our valued supporters (that's you!) have made it possible to donate more than $1,200,000 to each of our worthy beneficiaries.
Since 1962, the Women's Auxiliary has served as volunteers, ambassadors, and fundraisers for Children’s Health. Since the organization’s inception, they have grown to be nearly 1,000 members strong and have donated over $29 million to Children's through a variety of programs and community events. DPR Construction’s partnership with the Women’s Auxiliary through Hoot & Holler has made a lasting impact on the Children’s Health mission to make life better for children.
Last year, your generosity supported crucial programs at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, including:

The Carson Leslie Foundation's mission is strategically identifying and investing in medulloblastoma/ childhood brain cancer research, leading to low toxic treatments and ultimately, a CURE. Here is a note from Annette Leslie, their Chief Mission Officer.
Hello, dear friends! We continue to be extremely grateful for your support of our simple mission: helping kids fight cancer. Here are a few highlights from the past year and beyond! RESEARCH: A $100,000 investment to Children's Brain Tumor Network for a medulloblastoma LIQUID BIOPSY Project that will ultimately improve methods for monitoring tumor progression and treatment response through non-invasive biopsy techniques. A $100,000 science grant to Johns Hopkins University to combat Posterior Fossa Syndrome, a very challenging and unpredictable after-effect of brain surgery in children with medulloblastoma. A $400,000 investment by CLF and a close private funding partner to create a biomarker for early detection and prevention of medulloblastoma; a drop of blood at a routine baby care visit would detect medulloblastoma cells. If found, the child will have scans to see if there is a polyp present to be monitored or removed before it has a chance to grow. Medullo polyps grow into angry tumors which requires risky surgery, harsh treatment, long recovery, and crumbs from the tumor can metastasize to other parts of the child’s body. MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT: In partnership with Jordan Spieth Family Foundation (JSFF), we launched an Under Armour Backpack Project. We distribute our JSFF signature UA backpacks to newly diagnosed teen cancer patients filled with items for extended hospital stays to major hospitals all throughout Texas. In addition, every single month, we deliver unexpected gifts to children hospitalized and battling cancer at Children’s Dallas. ADVOCACY: CLF is working to reintroduce four bills to Congress: Creating Hope Reauthorization Act, Give Kids a Chance Act, Accelerating Kids Access to Care Act, and the Innovation in Pediatric Drugs Act. And finally, it continues to be an honor to serve on Texas’ $6B Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) Advisory Council for Childhood Cancers (ACCC). During my service CPRIT, the 2nd largest funder of cancer research outside the Federal government made childhood cancer research an institutional priority increasing investments in childhood cancer research from 3% to 13%. Biannually CPRIT and CLF hosts Researchers RoundUp, bringing childhood cancer investigators from Texas’ major institutions to Dallas to identify collaborative research across Texas’ institutions. Thank you once again for being fearless advocates for our kids. We cannot wait to Hoot ‘n Holler (woohoo) with all you great people! With a grateful heart for your Texas sized support, Annette Leslie Chief Mission Officer | Carson Leslie Foundation |
