Have you ever wondered how the Hoot & Holler started? Eights years running now, DPR has hosted the likes of Randy Rogers, Corey Morrow, Whiskey Meyers, and Josh Abbott, to name a few. It was all spurred on by a man who needs no introduction: the one and only Dave Boroughs.

At the time, Dave was leading the DPR Dallas office, before he left us to start some company. Actually two companies. Not sure if you've heard of them, The Demo Company and The Door Company? Anyway, even though Dave left DPR, he's been a huge contributor to the success of Hoot & Holler over the years. It's no secret the man likes to have a good time (and has a heart of gold) so we asked Dave to reflect back, and here is what he shared.

Maybe 'Demo Dave' will be our headliner one year?!

You've been supporting Hoot & Holler for a few years now, why do you keep coming back?
Dave: Since the beginning! Hell, I came up with the name Hoot & Holler! 

Who has been your favorite performance? Why?
Dave: I don’t remember. It's usually a pretty fuzzy night. 

What would you tell someone that's never been to the Hoot & Holler before?
Dave: [It is] one of the best events in Texas!  The whole industry shows up and gets wild!!! 

How are you connected to The Carson Leslie Foundation or the Women’s Auxiliary of Children’s Medical Center?
Dave: I have worked with and supported Children’s since 2009.

Which musician would you most like to see at Hoot & Holler? 
Dave: Avett Brothers!!!!​

If Hoot & Holler was an emoji, which one would it be?
Dave: 🤫
